Why I love Robin Hill Park

One spring evening several years ago, a photographer friend showed me her “go-to” location for sessions. And I kinda stole it. Well, I didn’t really steal it because it can’t be stolen and she was willingly sharing it. But ever since, I have been using Robin Hill Park in Moon Township for portrait sessions.

There are many reasons to love this quiet little park. One, it doesn't feel like a park. It feels like a rich person’s backyard. And basically, that is what it is. Francis and Mary Nimick lived on this estate with their six children in the mid-1900’s. When the wife died, she left the property to Moon Township as “a “Nature Lover’s” oasis. The house has beautiful architecture details that enhance and give variety to portrait sessions.

The house gives structure, but the garden and trees provide a calm and natural backdrop. The tulips along the pathways in spring, the flowers blooming in the summer garden, and the leaves turning colors in the fall all create a beautiful scene. All over the property there are perfect pockets for portraits in every season.

At the bottom of the hill sits a little log cabin. If rustic is more your style, it’s just another spot for pictures. There is just so much variety at Robin Hill Park and that is the main reason I love it so much.

Another perk of the park is that, well, it is a park and kids can run, laugh, and play. My cousin met me there with her two-year old son last year. He did not want to sit still and didn’t have to! We just followed him around; I was able to capture his portrait and he remained a happy little guy!

Whether a family, toddler, or senior portrait session; whether spring, summer, or fall (and I would assume winter too, but I have yet to have a session then), Robin Hill Park won’t let you down.
